Alex ran both amateur and professional motocross and dirt track in his early years. A change to roadracing his KTM 400 enduro led to the 1979 WERA 410cc National Superbike championship. Quickly following was a successful stint in AMA Professional Superbike racing. A switch to Battle of the Twins returned 5 Midwest twins championships with AMACCS and 2nd in the nation in the AMACCS Supertwins series.
In 2002, Alex joined the Superbikers 2 Super-Motard Racing Association, winning the Sport Motard Championship in 2002 and 2003 before taking time off to become certified to teach the MSF classes so that more people can enjoy the experience of off-highway riding.
Alex's day job for the last 30 years has been as an engineer at Harley Davidson in Powertrain Development. His latest exploit was as the Project Lead for development of the new Buell XBRR roadracer engine.

Kay Johannes - Manager
Kay is a fan of MSF classes having passed her street rider course, resulting in her motorcycle license in 1982 after receiving a motorcycle instead of an engagement ring from Alex. She has also graduated from the Basic DirtBike School.
When the AMACCS was started, the organizers of the Midwest region recognized Kay's passion for bikes and hired her as the first female Chief Technical Inspector/Referee. She helped write the rulebook and worked throughout the country for several years, leaving only to support Alex in his racing pursuits.
Kay was featured in the book Women and Motorcycling by Susie Hollern.
